Quiet and tranquil, Pushkar is a haven for tourists searching for respite. A religious town built around a lake, it is best known for the annual camel/cattle fair that turns the haven into a riot of colour.
GETTING THERE
Hourly bus service from near the old bus stand at Daulat Bagh in Ajmer, 14 km away. Jeep taxis take passengers. Ajmer is also the nearest railhead.
Pushkar : Local Transport
All the tourist sights are within walking distance. There is only one rickshaw available. Taxis can be hired to go to Ajmer. It costs Rs. 400 for half a day, to hire camels (rates negotiable).
Sarnath : Eating Out
UPSTDC runs a restaurant here which offers Indian cuisine. Some private restaurants also operate and offer Chinese food.
Chamba: Eating out
The town is famous for its gastronomic delights, of which khatta meat and chambya-li madra are special, however, there are no worthwhile dining out options outside the hotels.
