Jodhpur is on the Western Railway broad-gauge network and is linked to various centres in the region by express and passenger trains. Some important links are those that connect with New Delhi, Agra, Jaisalmer, Jaipur, Udaipur, Ahmedabad and Mumbai. Train journeys are usually long because of the distances involved, and it is advisable to carry light snacks as most stations en route do not serve much by way of food. Excellent connection to Jaipur by Inter City Express (4.5 hours), connected to Delhi by a Superfast overnight train, Mandore Express, connected to Calcutta by Howrah Express.
