Dalhousie: By road
Dalhousie lies astride the main i pathankot-chamba route and the road i to the city diverts at banikhet, 6 km. The i city, however, is well connected by a i good network of roads to different parts i of himachal pradesh and region. Some 1 distances to important places in gion are: chamba 56 km (via bani-i kliet) and 48 km (via khajjiar), pathankot 180 km, dharamshala 143 km (via bani :, chakki, nurpur) and 127 km (via i bakloh, lahru, sihunta and shahpur), i amritsar 191 km, jammu 190 km, mandi 270 km, manali 380 km, chandigarh 318 km (via pathankot), and shimla 336 km.
There are regular bus services to dal¬housie by state transport corporations of himachal and punjab and also of some private bus companies, linking the city to many parts of himachal pradesh and pun¬jab. But frequency of buses directly touch¬ing the city is less. However, an alternate option is to disembark at banikhet, 6 km from the city and very well connected by public road transport. Transfer to dalhou¬sie from banikhet (20 min.) Is possible with taxis or maxi-cab, both of which are easily available throughout the day.
The main bus stand is located at the be¬ginning of the city and has no worthwhile facilities.

The hill station of dalhousie (1,525 m to 2,378 m), named after a former british governor-general, is full of old world charm and exudes »lingering aura of colonial times. Covering an area of 14 sq km and surrounded by alpine vegetation, dalhousie has charming architecture and panoramic views of both the plains and the whitecapped pir panjal range. Cold in winter, mild in summer.

Dalhousie: Eating out
The local cuisine is dominated by north indian (particularly punjabi) and chinese/tibetan food. For the latter, there are many stalls along the figure of eight promenade (the mall), specially at sub¬hash and gandhi chowks. Otherwise, two prominent restaurants, kwality at Gandhi chowk abd Moti Mahak at subhash Chowk are worth a try.
