Getting to Palampur
Palampur is 38 km from the district headquarters town, dharamshala, on nh 20 towards mandi, and 35 km from kangra town. Access options are common to both. However, by road from delhi another route is via ambala, ludhiana and phagwara (on nh 1), hoshiarpur, mubarakpur (joining with chandigarh-una-dehra gopipur route), kangra and palampur. Though 10 km longer (535 km), it offers easier driving on double-carriageway nh1 till phagwara.
Himachal road transport corporation runs a semi-deluxe coach from delhi (isbt) to palampur, via chandigarh, everyday.

Entertainment : Kangra
Between May and October, tl Dhauladhar ranges offer an exciting variety of trekking and rock climbing. The Mountaineering Institute has its branch at McLeodganj. Dharamsala to Chamba, over Indrahar Pass, Minkiani Pass, Balenijot and Bhimghasutri Pass. Dharamsala to Manimahesh over the Talang Pass. Palampur to Dharamsala over the Indrahar Pass, Baijnath to Manali over the Thamsar Pass.
Fishing: The 20-km stretch of the Beas river between Nadaun and the Pong Dam offers excellent opportunities.
