Bijli Mahadev Temple : Kullu

Bijli Mahadev Temple (14 km & 2,460 m) : Kullu

It is one of the most important deities of the Valley. A legend holds that the temple flag-staff attracts lightning, which sometimes shatters the holy shivling. The sacred shivling returns to its original form on application of a paste of butter and barley-gram.

Can be reached by road or boat. Chitrakoot, 132 km, is believed to be the place where Lord Rama stayed during his exile. Other places of interest include the Kamadgiri, Ram Ghat and Janaki Kund.

GAURIKUND

GAURIKUND: Some distance short of Sudh-mahadev is the legendary spring where Goddess parvati used to bathe before commencing her daily prayers at Sudh Mahadev. This spring is named after her as 'Gauri Kund' .
