The Aurobindo-Ashram And The People Of Auroville Like You To Think Of Them As Fully Self-Sufficient, So It Is Not A Good Idea To Ask For Information About Ashram In Auroville.
Eating. Right On The Beach Is The Indian Coffee House Where You Can Hear The Surf As A Background Noise Free Of Charge. You Can Get Vegetarian Food At The Bliss, 15 Gingee Street, As Well As First Hand Information About Auroville. The Snackbars Opposite La Boutique D’auroville And A Few Vietnamese-Chinese Restaurants E.G. Paris Restaurant At The Shanti Guest House Or The Blue Dragon, Are Also Good. This Famous Project For A Town For All Nationalities, Was The Idea Of The Sri Aurobindo Ashram. Today The Population Of The Town Is A Constant 400, And It Is Difficult To Imagine That A Town For 50,000 People Is Supposed To Stand Here. Years Ago All Construction Came To A Standstill. It Seems That The Ashram Society, Which Commenced The Construction, And The Inhabitants Of The Town Have Fallen Out. The New Town For Spiritual Co-Existence Is Struggling Like Almost Every Other Dream, With Conflicts Of Interests.

There is row after row of souvenir shops in the centre of kannykumari. They sell shell necklaces, shells of all sizes, dried sea urchins and other animals of the sea. If you don't want to support the plunder of the ocean, you can perhaps buy some material or bamboo mats with pictures of the landscape or gods on them.
