Bangalore : Pubs & night life

Filed under:

Pub crawling is a past-time in vogue with the younger set. The beer here is i among the best in the world, locally brewed, fresh and bubbly. Most pubs are over-crowded, heavy with smoke and drowned with loud music. The food here is the snacky, tandoori kind.

A few are sedate, sparsely patronised and have an old-world pub-like atmo- i sphere, like polo club and the royal derby. A pub lunch here is worth savouring.

Polo club, the oberoi: 37-39 m.g. Road,

Black cadillac: mohan towers, 50 res¬idency road

The pub world: 65, residency road (opp. Galaxy theatre)

Nasa: 1/4, church st.. A hi tech pub with video movies, laser shows and karaoke, set entirely in a space shuttle.

The underground: 65, bluemoon complex, m.g. Road. The underground has three stations. Oxford circus -where the action takes place. Kensington -a warm welcoming place for couples or families. Power station.

The royal derby: windsor manor, sankey road. Consists of a con- j tinental meal platter, with a complimentary glass of beer.

The cellar: residency road. Peco’s: a favourite for 70s music-lovers. A reasonable slightly cramped pub i with funloving staff and an excellent music collection. Nightwatchman tr 5588372. A charged tempo here for all bacchanalian needs.
