Kanpur is on the mainline broad gauge rail network between Calcutta and Delhi. It is connected by express and superfast trains. Important connections are the New Delhi-Calcutta, New Delhi-Bhubaneswar and New Delhi-Guwahati Rajdhani expresses, the Gomti and Shatabdi expresses linking Delhi and Lucknow via Kanpur. Other important trains passing through Kanpur Central are Neelan-chal Express (New Delhi-Puri), Toofan Express (New Delhi-Calcutta), North East Express (New Delhi-Guwahati), Magadh Express (New Delhi-Patna), Vaishali Express (New Delhi-Barauni), Shaheed Express (New Delhi-Gorakh-pur), Sangam Express (Meerut-Allaha-bad), Avadh Express (Ratlam-Luc-know) and Sabarmati Express (Varana-si-Ahmedabad).
